Construction and Demolition Waste

Vonco’s commitment to environmental stewardship has been evident from the beginning of our business. Long before construction and demolition debris landfills were required to utilize strict liner construction standards, Vonco constructed its new solid waste disposal facilities with a composite liner system consisting of multiple layers of protection. This added level of environmental protection translates directly to reducing environmental risk for construction and demolition waste generators.

Industrial Waste

Vonco waste management campuses offer environmentally secure disposal for non-hazardous industrial waste. Our rigorous quality control and waste acceptance procedures ensure compliance with all applicable statutes and requirements developed and enforced by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and local regulatory authorities. Our waste acceptance process requires completion of a waste profile and possible chemical analysis to verify waste acceptability. Additionally, Vonco offers pre-printed manifests, waste profiling services, sophisticated waste tracking via site specific, custom designed waste tracking software, and certificates of disposal.

The Vonco Way

A Vonco Waste Management Campus is not your typical solid waste disposal facility. Our business philosophy is to differentiate ourselves by being industry leaders with solid waste processing that incorporates sustainable environmental practices for construction, demolition and industrial waste, including source separated organic composting, at a single location. Our commitment to environmental stewardship goes beyond recycling and waste processing and starts with the physical appearance of our sites — clean, well organized, and minimally disruptive to our local communities. All Vonco facilities are backed by a team of professionals that are Minnesota Certified Landfill Operators and leaders in the solid waste industry.

Recycling Facility

In our pursuit to reduce our environmental footprint and minimize direct disposal of construction/demolition waste, we are opening our VC Recycling facility in 2015. Our facility will incorporate the latest technologies available for recovering and processing of various construction/demolition wastes. The core commodities that will be recovered and recycled are metals, aggregates, cardboard, and wood along with additional materials as markets continue to develop.

Sand and General Fill Sales

Our Vonco facility in Becker, Minnesota sells general fill and sand for use as backfill on construction sites. Dedicated in-bound and out-bound scales offer clients a quick and efficient way to pick up a load of sand or fill after delivering a load of waste, saving client’s time and transportation costs.

History

Vonco began managing and recycling demolition debris in the 1960’s at its original location in Brooklyn Park, MN. From there, operations expanded to Rogers, MN with its first permit by rule solid waste disposal site. The first Vonco facility opened in 1991 to serve the construction and demolition waste needs of greater Minneapolis and the Northwest suburbs. Vonco earned a reputation for superior customer service, which required us to open our second waste management campus in 2003 to service the growing Twin Cities market. As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, construction of this facility included incorporating a composite liner system utilizing multiple layers of protection.

Continually striving to improve our methods, in 2009 Vonco converted our second Twin Cities landfill location to a full-scale waste management campus capable of accepting all non-hazardous construction, demolition and industrial wastes.

In 2010, Vonco V in Duluth, Minnesota received its Industrial Solid Waste Permit and became our second Waste Management Campus location.

Our continual pursuit of alternative disposal technologies resulted in our Twin Cities Vonco location launching a source separated organic composting operation in 2014, which allows for the organic treatment of many waste types including food waste. Expanded recycling capabilities will be available at our Twin Cities waste management location later in 2015 when our VC recycling facility will open.
